READJUSTMENTS.
FORTY-HOUR WEEK.
EXEMPTED INDUSTRIES. FORMAL OBBER OF COURT. A formal order giving effect to exemptions granted fyv the Arbitration Court in respect of the Factories Amendment Act. which became operative yesterday, was issued yesterday by the Court. The order will remain in force for such periods and on such terms as are stated in the various judgments permitting longer hours than 40 a week. The following industries, some of which are given seasonal and partial relief only, are covered by the order:—
Acetone Illuminating and welding; aerated water manufacturing; " baking; butter and cheese manufacturing; cement manufacturing; chemical manure manufacturing; fellmongering; flaxmilling; flour and oatmeal milling; fruit, vegetable and fish preserving, canning and jam making; gas manufacturing and distributing; glass manufacturing; glue manufacturing; golf club manufacturing; insulator and pottery manufacturing; iron rolling milling; lime manufacturing; manager and packers in Union Steam Ship Company's laundry; milk vats, milk cans and milk coolers (and the like) manufacturing; petrol reselling and motor car servicing; printing; retail butchery and small goods manufacturing,— rubber goods manufacturing; seed cleaning, dressing, grading and packeting; ship repairing; soap manufacturing; starch manufacturing; smokeless fuel and briquette manufacturing; tanning; wool pack and grain sack manufacturing; by-products manufacturing.
