Reciprocal pensions were mentioned by the Minister of Pensions, Mr. Parry, in the House of Representatives to-night when moving the second reading of the Pensions Amendment Bill. The Minister said that an agreement had been reached with Australia in 1930 but although New Zealand had passed legislation to give effect to the arrangement Australia had failed to do so, maintaining that the balance of payments would be unequal. Several attempts had been made to get Australia to come into line, but so far they had not been successful. •?.v. The Government. Mr. Parry said, was anxious to arrange some system of | . reciprocal pensions with both Australia 1 and Great Britain and the matter would " be taken up by the Minister of Finance !V when he was abroad.
