Flight - Lieutenant Tommy Rose, ' former holder of the England-Cape flight record, paid a tribute this week to Mrs. Amy Mollison, who broke his i record in May. He was addressing 3GO | women students attending a London i education course. '"Mrs. Mollison,'-- he ' said, "has shown that a girl can do the ! things in the air that strong, fat gentle- ! meli can do." ! After making his record flight to ' C'ajictown in 3 days 17 hours 3S minutes, i Mr. Rose continued, a nervous announcer, ' introducing him to the microphone, said: "This is Mr. Tommy Mollison, who has just flown from England in 37 days Hi hours 7 minutes." The next day lie | met the Premier, General Hertzog, "who ■ said, "I was listening to the wireless Mast night. If what I heard was true, i surely it would be quicker to conic hv | boat." j Mr. Rose said that he found the best i way to deal with boredom on a long j flight was eating oranges. Peeling and | eating one orange took him 14 minutes il3 seconds. After much practice he I found that he could blow, every pip out I of a narrow opening in the window.
