Business opened quietly this morning, activity in G. J. Coies Deing the feature of main interest. Sellers quoted more freely for Government stocks, and with buyers still steady, rates in this section appeared firm. Banks were quiet, New Zealands being quoted wide, buyers £1 19/, sellers ±12. Unions came close to business, the market finishing buyers £!) 8/6, sellers- 1/ away. There were buying offers for Dalgetys and Goldsbrough, Morts at £8 14/3 and £1 11/9 respectively. Sellers of the former stayed firm at £9 and the latter at £1 12/1. A wide margin between buyers, £'2 12/3 and sellers £2 13/8, marked New Zealand Breweries quotations. Unsupported sellers of Dominion Breweries, "rights,asked 0/9. Coles headed the list of sales in the miscellaneous section at a fractional reduction of 2d. Consolidated Bricks were the only other issue to have dealings unaltered. Buyers remained firm at 10/8 for Morts Docks, and at 3.2/6 for Wilcox, Moftlin. Mount Morgans had sellers at Saturday's sale price, and Mount Lyells moved up a point. Woolworths (Sydney) slipped to sellers £o 6/, but West Australia were firm at buyers £5 14/, sellers 4/6 above.
