WRESTLING TITLES.

AMATEURS MEET. PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. CHAPTER OF ACCIDENTS. A chapter of accidents marred the afternoon bouts of the Auckland Wrestling Association's championships at the Artillery Hall on Saturday. H. Brewer and H. Hassan were both taken to hospital, following injuries, and B. White had to retire in his bout with a chest muscle injury. Apart from that it was an interesting and instructive meeting, with a number of good bouts. O. Jones retained his feather-weight title, and there were no upset* in the various divisions. IV. Brewer, the lightweight champion, and W. Boag, holder of the bantam-weight title, were not competing. R. Douglas did not compete m the heavyweight division, being content to concentrate on the light-heavy-weight title. The new champions are as follow: Heavy-weight.—K. Kenneth. Light-heavy-weight. —R. Douglas. Middle-weight.—J. McDonald. Welter-weight.—V. Rawle. Light-weight. —W. Williamson. Feather-weight.—C. Jones. Bantam-weight.—R. Nottingham. Fly-weight.—Kislia Bana. The winners of the Auckland titles travel to Masterton on Sunday week to wrestle in the North Island championships. The winners there go on to Wellington for the New Zealand championbhThe officials were: Referee, Mr. C. Pollard; judges, Messrs. C. D. McCready, G. Heald; time-keepers, Messrs. U. Oxspring and C. H. Hough. The results were as follow: — HEAVY-WEIGHT. Final. —K. Kenneth beat A. Nathan on points, in a hard-fought match in which he made the pace. Kenneth narrowly escaped a fall following a dump in the second round. However, he won by a fair margin. LIGHT _ HBAVY _^ BIGHT . R. Douglas, 12.4, beat C. Sylvester, 12.4, on points. Semi-final : V. Aspin, 11.9, boat T. Hardy, 11.9, on points in a hard, even match. ' , _ . Final.—K. Douglas beat V. Aspin, on points. There was little to spare between the opponents who provided the best match of the tourney. In the second round Douglas had to seek refuge outside the ropes following a head throw. Over the latter stages, however, Douglas was well on top.

MIDDL3-WEIGHT. D Marsh, 10.12, beat D. Skelton, 11.4, intwo straight falls with body presses; J. McDonald, 11.6, won in the first round against B. White, 11.1, White being unable ,to continue after an injury to a chest muscle.; W. Hnnkins, 11.1, beat D. Marsh, on points; N. Nlcholi, 11.3, beat F. Irving, on points. Final. —J. McDonald beat N. Nicholl, on points, in an exciting match. Both are clever wrestlers and though McDonald deserved the decision there was not a great margin separating the opponents. WELTER-WEIGHT. ICirst Roiud.—R. Double, 10.5, beat J. Moore, 10.4, in two straight falls; V. Kawle, 10.4, beat C. Eraser, 10.4, when the latter was disqualified in the first round for kicking; B. Dods, 10.7, beat R. McPifee, 10.5, with one fall from a press in the final round ; F. Murphy, 10.0, beat V. Carey, 10.7, with a press following a dump in the third round. Semi-final : It. Double beat B. Dods in a hectic match on points after each had a fail; V. Rawle beat F. Murphy, on points gained in the final round. They were on even terms until then. Final.—V. Rawle beat R. Double on points. Double's use ol' the ropes piled up the points against him during the last round. LIGHTWEIGHT. N. Sakcy. 9.5, was disqualified in the second round of his bout with .T. Young, 9.8, for failing to come to grijis as ordered by the referee. Sakey was overweight and was unable to wrestle in the feather-weight division for. which he had entered. H. Brewer, 9.9, had to be carried out of the ring following a fall in the second round, taken by M. Sewell. Semi-final : W. Williamson beat J. Young on points ;-M. Sewell beat Franklin on points. 1 Final.—Williamson beat Sewell in straight falls with body presses in, the first and third rounds. He was wall bhead on points against his less experienced opponent. FEATHER-WEIGHT. — c - Jones, 8.12, holder of the title, beat T. Harvey, 7.0, on points In the only bout of this division. BANTAM-WEIGHT. i ?' ®" ssnn . S-5, suffered a broken collarbone in a bout with C. Harper, S.O. and retired in the first round. Final.—li. Nottingham, 5.5, beat J Walsh, 8.6, by one fall taken with a headlock in the final round. GREYMOUTH, Sunday. Paul Bocech and Joe Woods wrestled a draw at the Town Hall last night, each gaining one fall. It was an exciting contest. °
