A SUCCESSFUL SEASON.
WAIKATO RACING CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. . "We have passed through a most progressive year," stated the president, Mr. V. R. Seddon, at the annual meeting of the Waikato Racing Club to-day, "and from both the viewpoint of sport and finance the club had experienced the best season for many years."
The .chairman of the finance committee, Mr. A. E. Manning, said the accounts were most gratifying. The totalisator receipts for the two meetings held by the club, apart from the Te Kuiti club's day, showed an increase of £3690 while the stakes over the three meetings had advanced by over £2000, a record that few Dominion club 6 could emulate. He concluded by referring to the erection of the new members' stand at Te Rapa, which would afford unequalled facilities.
Mr. W. V. St. George drew' attention to the crippling burden of taxation. Mr. W. 11. Shattock, on behalf of owners and trainers, stressed the need for improved facilities. There were about 00 horses training at Te Rapa, and the track was not in the beet order. He recommended that a sand track, costing about £300 or £400, be laid' down.
The chairman said that improvements were contemplated, and the committee would consider a scheme this season.
The following officers were elected unopposed: President, Mr. F. R. Seddon; vice-president, Mr. A. Miller; committee, Messrs. H. D. C'aro, W. T. Christie, O. M. Monckton, G. J. Peach, A. -Sandford and S. V. Tyler. ■
