DANZIG SITUATION.
Nazis' Strained Relations With League Commissioner.
'PHONE TALKS TAPPED.
(Received 12 noon.) LONDON, August 28.
Two British Labour M.P.'s, Messrs. Arthur Jenkins (Pontypool) and James Griffiths (Henslow) have returned from Danzig. They say the Nazis posted two policemen outside the" office of Mr. Sean Lester, League Commissioner. They photograph intending visitors and warn them of unpleasant consequences if their visit is carried out.
A fiat has been issued that any Danzig citizen making an appeat .of any kind to the High Commissioner will be deemed an enemy of the Nazi State.
"Police were not present when we arrived to see Mr. Lester, and we discovered afterwards that as the appointment was made by 'phone the conversation had been tapped and the police discreetly withdrawn. They merely observed from a window overlooking the office. Nazis openly boast that they will have no truck with Mr. Lester," said Mr. Jenkins.
