This week's county cricket results are:— Gloucester: First innings, 146 (Nichols seven for 50); second, 299 (Barnett 117). Fssex: First innings, 171 (Goddard eight for 64); second, 121 (Barnett six for 17). Gloucester won by 153 runs.
Sussex: First innings, 225; second, seven for 297, declared (Melville 90). Yorkshire: First innings, 328 (Hutton 83); second, none *ir 71. Yorkshire won on the firs# innings.
Leicester: First innings, 282 (Dempster 137; Pollard six for 42); second 139 (Parkinson four for 37). Lancashire: First innings, eight for 422, declared (Jddon 118, Paynter 89). Lancashire won by an innings and one run,
Middlesex: First innings, 398 (Sims 78); second, 213 (Robins 77). Worcester: First innings, 18o; second, 177 (Sims five for 72). Middlesex won by 249
Derbyshire: First innings, 216 (Smith 93; Andrews five for 42); second, 200 (Wcllard five for 47). Somerset: First innings, 14G (A. Pope five for 35); second, nine for 274 (Copson six for 81). Somerset won by one wicket.
Surrey: • First innings, nine for 423, declared (Gregory 101, Watts 116 not out); second, five for 227, declared. Hampshire: First innings, 310 (Moore 100); second, one for 174. Surrey won on the first innings.
Notts: First innings, 304 (Keeton 70) ; second, seven for 227, declared (Keeton 83). Glamorgan: First innings, 274 (Voce four for 62) ; second, one for 112. Notts won on the first innings.
As Yorkshire failed to win against Sussex Derbyshire become the county champions despite their defeat by Somerset.
Voce, against Glamorgan, obtained his thousandth county wicket in nine seasons. Paynter, against Leicester,-reached 2000 runs for the season for the first time in his career.
BY AN INNINGS.
KENT DEFEATS INDIA. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, August 28. In the match against Kent, India in the second innings was dismissed for 148 runs. Woolley took four wickets for 22 runs. Kent thus won by an innings and 202 runs.
