FOR AUSTRALIA.

THE M.C.C. TEAM.

SELECTION OF WYATT,

GOOD ALL-ROUND PLAYER,

R. E. S. Wyatt the Warwickshire allround player, and former English captain, has 'been chosen to go to Australia with the M.C.C. team, according to an announcement made by P.A. cable from London.

Wyatt is regarded as one of the best amateur batsmen in England, and is a medium paced right-hand bowler. He is the captain of the Warwickshire eleven, and has. led the English eleven on various occasions.

Wyatt is 35 years of age, and first played for his county in 1923. He made steady headway, and in 1926 scored over a thousand runs for Warwickshire, with an average of 35, and took 86 wickets for an average of 28. He visited India at the end of that season with a M.C.C. team, and scored 1913 runs, being second in the averages to Sandham. Next season he went to South Africa with the M.C.C. team and played in all five test matches there. In the 1928 season he scored over 2000 runs for Warwickshire, and established himself as one of the leading English batsmen. He played for England against the South Africans in 1929, and against Australia the following season, when he captained England in the final test match. tained England when the team played in New Zealand. Since then Wyatt has been very prominent in English cricket, but his captaincy was much criticised when he led the last M.C.C. team on a tour of the West Indies, when the tourists wertf defeated in the test series.

The inclusion of Wyatt in the team to visit Australia has been due to the defection of E. R. T. Holmes, the Surrey allrounder and captain of the M.C.C. team which toured New Zealand in the early part of this year.

The chosen team is: G. 0. Allen (capt., R. W. V. Robins, K. Faroes,. R. E. S. Wyatt, W. R. Hammond, J. Hardstaff, H. Verfty, W. Co.pson, J. Sims, L. B. Fishlock, M. Leyland, W. Voce, C. Duckworth, C. J. Barnett, T. S. Worthington, A. E. Fagg.

L. Ames, the Kent and former English wicketkeeper, has also been invited to join the team.
