SOUTH AFRICAN TREASURE HUNT. HARRISMITH (South Africa). Digging potatoes, a farmer found a double shafted Kruger half-sovereign, one of tho world's rarest coins. Within half an liour the fields were alive with feverish diggers, spurred by legends of treasure buried in Boer War days when the vicinity was a battlefield. Halfripened potato crops were ruined and several military landmarks destroyed.
