RADIO BEACONS.

AIDS TO SHIP MASTERS.

"RIGHT ROUND N.Z. COAST." (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The erection of additional radio bcacons for the safety of navigation was urged in the House of Representatives to-day by Mr. W. P. Endean (National, Parnell), who said a vessel had made Brown's Bay (Auckland) four miles off its course —a happening which would not have occurred had there been more radio beacons in operation. In reply, the Minister of Marine, Mr. Fraser, said radio beacons were to be established at Baring Head, Cape Campbell and Stephen Island, with a view to making navigation as safe as possible. A small experimental station had been established at Tiritiri in the Hauraki Gulf. It was not the most modern type, but had proved efficient. Other beacons were being placed on Cuvier Island and on Moko Hinau.

"That is the beginning of a programme to place beacons right round our coasts," added the Minister.
