ROTORUA TOURNAMENT.

HARVEY IN THE FINAL. At the conclusion of yesterday afternoon's piny 11. G. Dnvies, of Napier, and A. A. Harvey, of Auckland, were the winners of the semi-finals in the championship in the Rotorua tournament, and R. G. Rainger, of Auckland, and G. Dodgshun, of Gishorne, remain in the cup contest. The finals of both the championship and the Thermal Cup will ho decided to-morrow, when morning and afternoon rounds each of 18 holes will be playedThe victory secured by H. G. Davies against the experience of G. Tallis, of Auckland, in the morning was somewhat unexpected, but was well deserved. The command over all strokes, which enabled Davics to return a 71 on Wednesday, was again evident in his match against Tallis and also against S. S. Wilson, of Auckland, In the semi-final, which he won on the 17th nftcr the Aucklaiuler had unluckily lodged his toe shot in the bunker beside the green. Wilson made a fine effort at recovery, but could only square tlio hole to leave himself two down. In the morning ho had disposed of S. E. Carr, who beat the title-holder, 11. B. Lusk, on Wednesday afternoon. In the Thermal Cup contest the matches were no less interesting, and it was hero that the best round of the day was regis tered, R. G. Rainger doing the morning round in 72. However, he met strong opposition in R. Worker during the afternoon, and with the position see-sawing throughout the round it was not until the 10th that the Aucklander took the decision. After gaining a convincing win against J. M. Hussoy In tlio morning Fell, the youthful Tnuranga player, who has been giving Impressive displays throughout the earlier games, took his more experienced opponent, ■ G. Dodgshun, of Gisborne, to the 18th. Like Rainger, Dodgshun amply justified expectations that be would prove one of the most dangerous aspirants for the cup. Results :— CHAMPIONSHIP.
