KETCH YVONNE.
TASMAN CROSSED. ARRIVAL AT PARENGARENGA. FIFTEEN DAYS FROM SYDNEY. / The 50-foot auxiliary ketch Yvonne, which left Sydney on July 30 for Auckland, arrival at Parengarenga, the most northerly harbour on the New Zealand coast, last Friday.
The boat had a rough passage across the Tasman and was driven well to the south of Cape Maria van Dienien. She was reported by wireless a I Sydney as having made the west coast on Saturday, August 8, only nine days out from Sydney, a very smart passage for a 50ft sailing craft, as her engines were only used to clear Svdnev Heads.
After her arrival at Parengarenga the Yvonne was put ashore on the beach for cleaning and painting, and it is reported that she will leave for the Kerinadecs as soon as the hard northeast gale now blowing on the coast moderates.
The Yvonne is rigged with two pole masts, carrying a fairly good spread of sa.il, and has a 24 h.p. petrol' engine as auxiliary power. She is 50ft overall.
It is possible that the boat will make regular trips from Auckland to the Kermadecs and Sunday Island. Her arrival at Auckland cannot be expected for the next 10 days if she goes to Sunday Island from Parengarenga.
The Yvonne is :n charge of Captain J. Sorenson, with Mr. E. King as mate and Messrs. A. Venables, I. Ashwind, J. Bo<ihier and D. Angus as crew.
