POINTS FROM LETTERS.

FORGOTTEN WAR VETERANS.

The slogan of Labour at election time Was "Back to Seddon." Plenty believed them, but I did not and do not even now. "Dick" was on his way home to the coronation of Iving Ldwaid VII., and he popped into South Africa to see his beloved "Pig Islanders." Way north of Jo'burg he met us, and inspected us. And these were his inal wcrds to us: "Men of New Zealand, I am 011 my way Home to the coronation, but 1 leave you with confidence, knowing your courage, and that the integrity and honour of the Mother Country and New Zealand is safe in your hands. Farewell, boys. ' "Good old. Dick." And how now; the late Hon. Bill Massey brought down a Pension Bill for us. When we qualified for the old age pension we were to get £20 a year extra. Then comes Mr. Coates; he cut us down to £13- Now comes the "Back to Seddon" prophet and we are well out of it. Completely overlooked. The few of us left, who will qualify for the pension will be very small, in fact as small as the pension. In the "good old days of Dick" our praises were sung and poems written by Empire poets—"A Thousand Horse and Foot Agoin' to Table Bay'; Dukes Sons. Cooks' Sons, Sons 0! a Millionaire,'"' etc. Another verse is wanted now that we are "Back to Seddon." Any child want my Held marshal's baton for the next stunt? Might tie able to hit someone from the air. ORANGES PIASTRE EACH.
