ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL COMPETITION.
Winners Total Almost 3000
The fifth of the series of Fireside Puzzles brought quite a number of good entries, a higher standard being generally attained. There are dcubtless many boys and girls who wait eagerly for the Wednesday paper in the hope of seeing their name among the certificate or prize winners, and, spurred perhaps by this thought, Budgetites sent in lists averaging well over 1000. Although everyone cannot follow the example of Faye Evans, who won first place with an uncorrected total of 2650, they need not become discouraged. Anything worth while is made more enjoyable if it comes as the result of hard work. Evidently Budgetites enjoy constructing a word oblong, and among those who deserve mention are Margaret Maltby, aged 12, and Vincent h.gan, aged 10, two newcomers to the ranks of prize winners.
