The objects of the Bill are to amend the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Act, 1J33, Dj (a) Empowering the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council to make a Special Levy as security for any Special Loan. (b) Empowering the Council to assume the Sole Kiglit to Purchase Milk tor the Auckland Metropolitan Milk District. (c) Requiring the Council ill such case to Purchase l'vom the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, a certain percentage of the milk so required. (d )■ Empowering (lie Council to Treat, Sell o.r Distribute Milk and Crcaili ami carry on certain other operations in connection therewith (subject as to the exercise of certain of such powers to the consent of the Minister of Agriculture). (e) Empowering the Council to Compensate for injury due to exercise ot its powers. (f) Empowering the Council to Cancel or Refuse License to debtor milkvendors in certain circumstances. (g) Altering Constitution of Court to hear price appeals. (li) Altering Maximum Yearly Payment to Members. (f) Generally making provision enabling the Council more effectively to achieve the purposes of the principal Act.
