ONLOOKER'S VIEWPOINT.
M. CHAMPION AT OLYMPIAD
A correspondent, Dr. T. H. Pettit, writes: "I was surprised to read in the local papers that prior to Lovelock's win at Olympia only one New Zealander liad won an viz., Morgan. I would like to draw 'your attention to the fact that Malcolm Champion was a member of the Australasian team which won the - 800 metres relay race (swimming) at the 1912 Olympiad at Stockholm, and the certificate has been hung in the vestibule of' the Tepid Baths for some years. Mr. Champion also holds the gold medal for the event, of which he is justly proud, and I feel that the public should be acquainted of this fact."
[This part by Mr. Champion in the Australasian team's win in 1912 was acknowledge in the "Star" Sports Edition on Saturday. Quite clearly, however, it is not a parallel with the- wins of Morgan and Lovelock. —Sports Ed.]
