BIRTHDAY PARTIES.
At . the Ponsonby Cruising Club Hall, St. Mary's Road, Ponsonby, on Saturday, an enjoyable evening was given by Mr. and Mrs. R. P: Edwards, of Green Street, Ponsonby, in honour of the coming of age of their youngest daughter, Joyce Abodial. : Mrs. Edwards welcomed the guests in blue floral marocain, whilst the guest of honour looked charming" in the palest of pink satin. The usual toasts were honoured, that of the guest of honour being in the hands of Mr. J. Darby, Whilst Mr. A. E. Johns proposed that of Mr. and Mrs. Edwards. Dancing and games were indulged in by the guests, while Miss Ena Beadle accompanied by Miss Iris Carmichael, rendered musical items.
An enjoyable evening was spent at Hirst's Hall, Morningside; on Saturday evening, when Mr. and Mrs. G. Walker, of School Road, tendered, a coming-of-age party to their son Ivan. Over 100 guests were present. . Mrs. Walker received in a frock of black crepe romaine •relieved with cherry and silver. Among those present were: Mesdames G. Walker, sen., MeLeod, Newburn, Miles, Alf Walker, Clark, W. Walker, Quin, T. Walker, R. Walker, Herring, Sha,w, Hogg, Misses Harding, Ina Walker, Miles, Lees, Zeta Walker, Kilk, Black, F. Walker, P. Walker, Hedley, Clark, Val Walker, Moira Walker, McKenzie, Topley, Hardley, N. Herring, N. Perry, Tappley, Maloney, D. Townsend. Mr. R.. Walker suitably carried out the duties of .-caster of ceremonies. ,
