W.C.T.U.
AUCKLAND. The monthly meeting of the Auckland Women's Christian -Temperance Union was held in the social hall of the Y.W.C.A. recently. Miss Paul presiding. Xhe devotional half-hour was led by Mrs. Simpson. Miss Paul feelingly referred to the death of Mrs. John Cook, who had been president of the union for over 20 years. Tributes were paid to her work, not only i' l temperance, but in other social activities for the good of home and humanity. A vote of sympathy to her relatives was passed, members standing. It was resolved to place on record a minute eulogising Mrs. Cook's work. A temperance fact was read by Mrs. Knowles. .Ensign Newton then addressed the meeting on a day spent in London visiting the various Salvation Army homes for women and children.
GREY LYNN.
The monthly meeting of the Grey Lynn union was held, with a good attendance of members at the residence of Mrs. Langwell, Morningside. A welcome was extended to Mrs. Kasper, the district president, who spoke on the work of the W.C.T.U. A small sum of money was raised by selling goods valued at Od to members.
