HELEN SVILLE HOSPITAL
UNFAVOURABLE REPORT,
"I do not think we should commit ourselves to the purchase of a site and build a hospital at Helensville at the present juncture/' said the chairman of of the Auckland Hospital Board, the Rev. W. C. Wood, at a meeting of the board yesterday. A report received on a building and grounds under offer was unfavourable. The board's architect considered the section too small to provide for any extensions, and that the building did not warrant the expenditure that would be necessary to bring it up to modern hospital requirements. The finance committee recommended that the board consider the purchase of another site and the erection of a small building in the near future. The architect's report was referred back to the finance committee, Mr. Wood pointing out that there was little chance of the board being able to erect an expensive building in view of its building programme.
