BROADCAST DEBATES
Your correspondent "Citizen" is right in his statements regarding the broadcasting of Parliamentary debates. These alleged debates are a rebuke to our M.P.'s and serve only to show intelligent people how public speaking should not be done. There was one broadcasting station which gave us really worthwhile debates, however. I refer to those given by IZM, which have now, unfortunately, been discontinued. In my opinion, the speakers from IZM were far better than the majority of speakers from Parliament, and they supplied listeners with debates which were both interesting and educational, which supplied a long-felt public need for something a little out of the ordinary, and I, for one. would like to see these genuine debates again "on the air." I would far rather listen to them than to Parliament, for reasons that will be apparent to most of your readers, who, I am sure, will agree with me on that point. LISTENER.
