4 FINANCE, C0MME1 ON 'CHANGE. BUSINESS IS FAIR. SOME LINES IMPROVE. P. AND O.'S JUMP. Following a busy call yesterday afte noon, business on the Auckland Stoc Exchange waa quiet this morning. The banking section looked better, wit more buyers than for sonje time. Au: tralasias sold 1/ tip, at £11 IS/, an Commercials were quoted higher from IS to 18/3. Buyers for New South Wale moved up 2/6, to £32 10/; 110 sellers. Xc Zealands were steady from £1 19/0 to £: Buyers for South British advanced thei offers 6d, to £4 0/0, sellers asking £ 11/. Gas shares were offered Id lower, a £1 3/10. A feature of the call was a sharp rise i P. and O. deferred stock, buyers movin up from £1 9/6 to £1 12/ without attract ing any declaration from holders. Amongst Australian issues buying ofi'ci for Tobaccos were advanced to £2 0/l( and for Colonial Sugars to £42 15/. G. J. Coles steadied again, and after sale 6d lower, at £4 4/, there were sti' buyers at that figure. In Government stocks the only offerin was a parcel of '46's at £104. Bank of New Zealands Lower. A reduction of 3d in the value of Ban of New Zealand shares following th recent steadiness, was the feature of th noon call. There was further scrip avai able at the new figure, and buyers stoppe at £1 19/. This is the lowest figure r( corded by Bank of New Zealand share for a very long time. Commercials ha holders' quotations raised Id. Adjustments in the insurance sectio: resulted in buyers of South British movin up 3d, while New Zealands had revise* limits of £3 2/ and £3 3/6. Among industrials there was a stron demand for Australian issues, offers bein raised for Australian Glass, British Tc baccos, Broken Hill and Electrolyti Zincs. Coles appeared a shade easier.
