SAFE BLOWERS.
HASTINGS ROBBERY. £40 IN NOTES SECURED. MEDALS RETURNED BY POST. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HASTINGS, this day. The safe of Mossman and Company s office in Market Street was blown open on Saturday night and £40 in notes were stolen. The theft was committed early in ihe evening, for when Mr. A. J. C. Ru.uciman, the occupant of an adjoining office, arrived shortly after eight o'clock there was a strong smell of gelignite fumes in the passage. Upon investigation he found Mossman and Company's office filled with smoke and the door of the safe blown off. It is believed the thieves were disturbed bj- Mr. Runciman's arrival, since there was evidence of a hurried departure. Entry to the premises was gained by way of a narrow lane at the back of the building. This morning the thieves returned by post from Xa pier several medals and unemployment books taken with the cash on Saturday night.
