TROTTING.

CAMBRIDGE CLUB.

THE PRINCIPIL EVENTS. 1 • NOTES ON FORM. The Cambridge Trotting Club liave received satisfactory nominations for the principal events to be decided, at the Jubilee meeting next week, and although the Held for the Militia Handicap numbers only six there is material for a splendid contest. The Visitors' Handicap is the "second leg," and both races will be run over a mile and a quarter. Four horses figure on the front of the Militia Handicap. King's Guide was purchased at the end of last season at a large price, and this will .be his first appearance in his new owner's colours. At the Auckland meeting in February King's Guide ran two excellent races to gain a second and first placing, and on the second occasion registered the fast time of 3.18 2-5. He has trained on satisfactorily of late at Takanini, and, coming from the strong stable of F. J. Smith, he will probably be the public elect on the day. Parochial showed her best form last season 011 the Taranaki circuit at Faster, when she was successful on two occasions. She is a speedy mare, who is partial to sprint distances, and is not without prospects. Silk Cord is a most consistent pacer, who rarely fails to race prominently over this distance, and, judging by his sound performances at Epsom in June, he should be a very fit horse at Cambridge next week. Storm Queen raced fairly well last season without recording anything outstanding. Star Pronto's chances are governed by his starting habits, but should he go away properly he will take some beating. However, he so often does something wrong that he will have to be taken 011 trust. Winaway is another who has I ability, but does not go away correctly, though she is reported to be training 011 well at Takanini. Lady Fame is the backmarker on 84yds, and she is set a very difficult task. She has fine speed, but the handicap may prove beyond her. The race is full of possibilities, but a pair that may find favour just now are King's Guide and Silk Cord. The Visitors' Handicap. The Visitors' Handicap includes some useful pacers, and they should provide a fine contest. Bismuth went a couple of fair races last season and is equal to effecting a surprise. Home Brew does not always reproduce his best, but Lucky Love gave out definite signs of early improvement by pacing two sound races at Epsom in June. Norrie Rock is too uncertain at the start, while Bed Frontier has the ability, but is not solid. Roadster won well at Hawera at Easter and has not raced since. He i« a nice pacer, with plenty of style, and he will have to be considered. Tollgate ■ appeals very strongly after his fine efforts at the Auckland fixture. He has been going on well at Takanini and an early success is in store for him. General Sarsfield rarely goes a bad race, and he can be relied upon to give his supporters an excellent run for their money.. King's Guide is engaged earlierin the day, but if reserved for this event would have good prospects. Proletarian raced badly at the Auckland winter fixture, but it was not his true form. He has been showing all his former speed in his recent/ work. Transworthy is not reliable, but Tryment will be considered. A preference at this stage may be . el*own for the TollgateKing's Guide bracket, General Sarsfield and Lucky Love.
