PREVENTION OF CRUELTY.

The monthly meeting of the ladies' committee of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held at the clinic last evening. Mrs. Spencer Mason presided over a goo<l attendance of members. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. B. J. Marquet, convener, and members of the bridge committee for the excellent result of the recent bridge afternoon. A report and balance-sheet were received from Mrs. A. G. Frankham and Mrs. P. B. Ackland, the coconveners of the stall at the Winter Show, and much appreciation of the success of that activity was expressed by the members. Preliminary arrangements were made for the forthcoming Town Hall fair, and, conveners for the various stalls were elected. Members present included Mesdamcs M. H. Barry, A. G. Frankham, Marquet, Bushell, A. C. Green, Knovvells, Scott, J. J. Kearney, McKenzie, Brownlow, Burke, E. L. Burton, Noble, Wilkinson,: and Misses Lane and Metzger.
