DAIRY MARKETING.

SECRETARY TO DEPARTMENT. EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. Mr. G. M. Pottinger, A.R.A.N.Z., who has been appointed secretary to the Primary Products Marketing Department, was educated at the West Christchurch School and at Christ's College. He later joined the New Zealand office of the firm of Gordon WoodroUe and Company, London, importers of frozen meat, wool, tallow, etc., with whom he gained an intensive knowledge of these products.

Mr. Pottinger was appointed accountant to the Dairy Produce Control Board in 1920, and in that capacity had to organise the accounting side of the board's absolute control qf dairy marketing. Mr. I'ottinger's help and experience will lie invaluable to the actingDirector of Marketing, Mr. G. A. Duncan, with whom .lie has been associated in various capacities. He was joint author with Mr. Duncan in the preparation of a table of London price equivalents, and was associated with him as a member of the committee to advise the Government on guaranteed prices.

Mr, Pottinger was awarded second prize for his thesis on the dairy industry ii. the competition promoted by the New Zealand Society of Accountants in 1930. Mr. Pottinger has been an evening lecturer on accountancy subjects at the Christchurcli Technical College and at Canterbury College.
