MOVE FOR UNITY.

INDUSTRIAL LABOUR. COMMITTEE APPOINTED. Progress has been made in the direction of bringing about unity in the ranks of industrial' Labour with the setting up of three representatives of the national executive of the Alliance of Labour and three representatives of the Trades and Labour Federation to hold preliminary discussions in the matter. The committee will consider amendments to the constitution of the two organisations in an effort to arrive at a basis which will be acceptable to all sections of the Labour movement and facilitate amalgamation. There is a suggestion also that the district councils of the two bodies should also move in the direction of uniting. I# the past the Trades and Labour Federation has catered for the craft unions, and the Alliance of Labour for the national industrial unions such as the seamen's and waterside workers' unions and the liotel federation.
