INSURANCE SHARES.
HOLDINGS ARE SMALL. Speaking at the annual meeting of shareholders in the New Zealand Insurance Company to-day, tlie chairman of directors, Sir James Gunson stated that a general impression seemed to exist that institutions such as theirs were strongly capitalistic—in reality they were, to a large extent, repositories of savings. An analysis of the shareholding of the company disclosed that one-third of the 2565 shareholders held 100 or less shares each and more than 75 per cent held individually less than 500 shares;
