EAST COAST ROADS.
GOOD STATE REPORTED.
Excellent conditions in the Bay of Plenty and neighbouring districts are reported by an Auckland motorist who Inst week made a 500 miles tour. He visited Thames, Matamata, Tauranga, Whakatane, Opotiki, Rotorua and Hamilton. The motorist stated that the roads between these townships, generally speaking, were in splendid order, in spite of recent heavy rains. There was only one really bad patch, about 10 miles from Whakatane, where roadmen were busy laying new formations for a small distance.
A stranger to several of the districts, he said he was particularly appreciative of the work of the Automobile Association (Auckland) for the manner in which every turn-off on the main routes was indicated by signs, giving information both as regards the directions of towns and townships and the distances to be travelled. He added that there was no reason for any motorist to get off his course.
