£30,000 PRIZE.
CLAIMANT NOT AT WORK. EMPLOYER PUZZLED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. The non-inclusion of the name of Arthur Ernest T. Johnstone in the list of results of Irish Free State Hospital Sweepstakes now to hand, and the failure of the young plasterer to return to his work 011 Monday, give a curious complication to the sensation caused in Dunedin 011 Friday, when, it was alleged, Johnstone claimed lie had received definite advice tlyit he had won £30,000 on a Derby sweep. Only Johnstone can now say whether or not he won the prize, but of his present whereabouts his employers and his workmates have no advice.
The young man left Dunedin 01: Saturday morning for Timaru, and it is reported he left South Canterbury for Invercargill. Before leaving Dunedin his last word to his employer, Mr. Idour, who saw him off at the railway station, was that he would definitely return on Monday. He has not since communicated with his employer.
The production of the ticket and a checking with the official numbers will alone clear the issue that has developed sinco the young plasterer failed to return to work.
