HARRIERS
CROSS-COUNTRY TITLE.
PROVISIONAL TEAM CHOSEN.
The Auckland provincial cross-country selectors, Messrs. W. Morton, A. Moon and S. J. Gudsell, have selected the following harriers to commence special training for the New Zealand cross-country championships to he held in Auckland on August 29:—Savidan, Hill, Birtwistle (Auckland), Kiel, II olden (Presbyterian), Briggs, Crompton (Lynndale), Haszard, Stephenson (University), Littler (Papatoetoe), Harding. Nicholson (Technical). The selectors also request the following countrv club men to undergo 60lid training :—Browne (Opotiki), Mackenzie (Wliangarei). Henshall (Hamilton). A run with the Auckland Club at the Domain is suggested for next Saturday. WESLEY CLUB. The Wesley Harrier Club will decide its championships over a course of 6} miles from the Epsom Methodist Church on Saturday, commencing at 2.30 p.m. The trail will lead over the Three Kings and Hillsboro' districts. In addition to the senior and junior championships, a sealed handicap in both grades will be decided. UNIVERSITY CLUB. The University Harrier Club will hold its championship on Saturday from the Avondale racecourse, starting at 2.15 p.m. In conjunction with this event sealed handicap and the inter-faculty team's contest will be decided. The course will be that formerly used for the 10-men teams' race, the distance being approximately 6i miles. CALLIOPE CLUB. The Calliope Harrier Club will conduct its annual cross-country championships for seniors and juniors on Saturday. The seniors will race over a course of GJ miles.
while the juniors will compete over 3J miles. Both races will commence from Zion Hill, the juniors starting first at 2.45 p.m.
