AT THE SIGN OF THE TAKAHE.—One of a series of very fine rest houses along the roadside on the Cashmere Hills. These rest houses are built by voluntary subscription, the originator of the idea being the late Mr. H. G. Ell. In the distance may be seen the snow-cappe Southern Alps.
