SATISFACTORY YEAR.
AUCKLAND GLIDING CLUB.
700 FLIGHTS LAST SEASON.
The fact that 700 flights had been made in the season and that that number exceeded the record of most overseas clubs was announced at the annual meeting last night of the Auckland Gliding Club. In such circumstances the progress of the club was deemed to be most satisfactory.
The report, which was adopted, added that in the gale last February most ot the assets of the club bad been destroyed, including the two gliders in which most of the flying had been done. New equipment had immediately been sought and a glider had been donated to the club by Mr. F. Adamson. A second * glider was later bought in Wellington.
The finances of the club were shown to be satisfactory. It was also mentioned that the use of the Avondale racecourse had been granted. That would permit of auto-towing flights. Officers for the year were elected as under:—President, Mr. F. C. Macdonald; vice-president, Mr. J. O. committee, Messrs. L. Wallis, H. Lamond. F. Adamson; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. Harkness; instructor, Mr. F. C. Macdonald; assistant instructor. Mr. -T. Harknc-ss; ground engineer, Mr. L. Wallis; assistant ground engineer. Mr. P. Cliinriery-Rtown; recording officer. Mr. I. Chinnery-Brown.
