SEAGOING' YACHT.
LARGE ORDER PLACED KETCH 90 FEET OVERALL. PROPOSED TRIP TO ENGLAND. An order has been placed for a 90ft ketch-rigged yacht, which, when built, will be the largest pleasure craft in New Zgaland. Tlit vessel will be built at the Bay of Islands from a design by Mr. Chas. Bailey for an Auckland yatclisman now living in the Bay. The.yaeht will be 90 feet overall and •75 feet on the waterline, with 22 feet beam*and 10 feet draught. She will carry the modern Bermuda rig and will have a! I'2o li.p. Diesel engine as auxiliary power, as well as a small Diesel engine ftb. drive dynamos. The. yacht will have a main saloon 20 feet long, two smaller saloons and six two-berth cabins. There will be a deckhouse 20 feet long, and a clear space of 25 feet aft will be covered with awnings when required. The owner purposes to make an ;extended cruise to the Islands and England anrl back to New Zealand. About 35. years ago Mr. Bailey designed and built the schooner-yacht La Carabine for Sir Rupert Clark, of Melbourne. She 86ft long and made a smart run across to Melbourne. The ssiooner-yach# Morewa, now owned by Mr.' Ernest' Da'vis, is 85, feet loftg. It is estimated-that the new yacht will iake twelve inonths to complete. The work of preparing the keel is already in hand. ~
