Mr. H. Luke returned from Australia by the Monterey this morning.
Mr. Oliver Brett, of Auckland, left by the Monterey to-day for Suva. He was accompanied bv his wife.
Sir James Gunson arrived in Auckland this morning by the Limited express from Wellington.
Sir George Elliot was a passenger from Wellington to Auckland this morning by the Limited express.
Mr. R. P. Worley, accompanied by his wife, returned by the Monterey this morning after a short visit to Sydney.
Mr. Frank Neil, managing director of the Tivoli vaudeville circuit, Australia, was a through passenger 011 the Monterey to-day.
Squadron-Leader N. P. Dixon, a New Zealander serving in the Royal Air Force, has received an appointment for duty with the Egyptian Army Air Force.
Mr. A. S. Richards, M.P., arrived by the Limited express from Wellington this morning. He will return to Wellington to-morrow night.
Mr. P. W. Schramm, M.P., was a passenger by the Limited express from Wellington this morning. He expects to return to Wellington on Sunday night.
Mr. H. J. Mills, managing director of Macky, Logan, Caldwell, Limited, left by the Monterey to-day for America and England on a business trip. He was accompanied by Mrs. Mills.
The Very Rev. Father H. V. Bird, has taken up his duties in Wellington as rector of the Redemptorist Order in New Zealand, in place of the Very Rev. Father B. C. McManus, who left this week for Geelong, New South Wales, where he will in future be stationed. ,
Mr. Warwick Fairfax, managing director of the "Sydney MoVning Herald," and Mrs. Fairfax passed through Auckland by the Monterey this morning. Sir. Fairfax is making a two months' visit to Japan, via Honolulu, and Mrs.' Fairfax is travelling to England in the course of an extended tour.
Archbishop Averill, Primate of New Zealand, the Rt. Rev. Dr. G. F. Graham Brown, Bishop in Jerusalem, and Archdeacon W. J. Simpkin left for Wellington by train yesterday to take part in the consecration to-morrow of Archdeacon H. St. B. Holland as Bishop of Wellington.
Mr. Thomas R. Campbell has T>een appointed a director of John Dewar and Sons, Limited. Mr. Campbell arrived ill Australia 30 years ago and in 1929 became general manager for Australia and New Zealand. He is at present on a visit to England and Scotland and is expected to return to Australia in September.
Mr. R. A. Wilcox, who has been senior assistant of the secondary staff of the Huntly District High School for the past seven and a half years, has received notice of his appointment to a similar position at the Te Arolia District High School. He will take up/his duties at the commencement of the third term in September.
