ROWING.

AUCKLAND CLUB. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. There was an enthusiastic attendance of members and supporters of the Auckland Rowing Club at the annual general meeting, presided over by Mr. G. Oxspring. In congratulating the members upon the healthy condition of the club, the chairman remarked that the great recovery made last season was entirely due to the keenness and true club spirit displayed in all the activities. Mr. Oxspring also emphasised the necessity for the full co-operation of the members during the coming season and felt sure that it would be forthcoming, especially in view of the commitments made by the purchase of new boats and plant. It meant work to raise the necessary funds, but if the active members played their part properly the old members and supporters would willingly recognise it in the proper manner. Mr. R. Porter paid a fine tribute to the executive for the strenuous work done and said it had been the best season the. club had enjoyed for many years.

Old members will be pleased to learn that throughout the winter week-ends not only have several crews been steadily at work, but a number of new members have received their initial instruction in the sport. This should give the club a fine start when activities open next summer.

The election of officers resulted:—President, Mr. S. Reid; commodore, Mr. H. Schmidt; vice-commodore, Mr. W. Barber; vice-presidents, same as last year; captain, Mr. G.
