FIRST ANNUAL BALL.
ORAKEI GOLF CLUB.
A HAPPY FUNCTION,
Success crowned the first annual ball organised by the president and members of the Orakei Golf Club. The function, which was held in the Show Boat last evening, was particularly well attended and was characterised by a marked spirit of fun and good fellowship. Tall stands of green foliage and hanging baskets of fern combined with the softly shaded lights to lend an attractive setting for the dancers. During the evening an exhibition of the tango and other modern ballroom dances was given by Miss Natalie Stratton and Mr. M. Stratton.
On arrival the guests were received by the president of the club, Mr. A. B. Bevege, and the vice-presidents, Mrs. E. L. Goldwater, who wore a frock of black Chantilly lace over shell pink satin, and Mrs." V. Tanner, who wore black chenille, velvet with white gardenias. Ladies 011 the ball committee present were: —Mrs. T. 11. Wood, ice blue novelty lame; Mrs. Ewan Smith, water lily green crepe; Mrs. A. I'. S. Bell, ivory crepe suede; Miss B. Tullocli, peacock green chiffon.; Miss Dora Watson, black moss crepe; Miss M. Blake, black taffeta; Miss N. Hudson, black net; Miss Phyllis Haydon, turquoise blue coin spot taffeta.
