DEATH IN HER 100 TH YEAR. MOURNED AT OXEHUNGA. Bom in Glasgow on Nevember 29 1830—nearly 100 years ago—Mrs. Mar? \Vliyte, of 03 Symonds Street, Onehunga died yesterday, and with lier death Ouehunga has lost a figure well known and highly esteemed for very many yeara. Her life had extended through the reins' of five monarchs, for she was horn when William IV*. was on the throne of England. . D

Mrs. Whyte married the late Mr. Alexander Whyte, a school teacher, in 1859, and arrived in New Zealand with her husband in the Caduceus that year, It was an arduous four months' trip for exceptionally heavy storms in the Bay of Biscay shortly after setting ow caused the old sailing ship to return U Falmouth and begin her voyage anew. Mr. Y\ liyte took up a teaching appointment at Auckland. In ISG3 they moved to Onehunga, where Mrs. Whyte, had lived ever since. Her husband "died in 1011.

Mrs. Whyte was a foundation membe, of the Onehunga Presbyterian Church and last year she was present at thf 75tlr, annivcrsity celebrations of tin church.:..*}. She was'- an.: enthusiastic social worker, being associated with the Onehunga Benevolent Society for many years. She had a wide circle of friends with, whom she kept in touch, retaining her faculties to the end.
