MONOWAI COMPETITIONS. During the Islands cruise of the Monowai various competitions were held on board, prizes being awarded as follow: — Fancy dress ball—Most original costume: Ladies, Mrs. A. M. Best brought costume: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, Yeovil, New South Wales. Spot light dance: Miss N. Jenkins, Palmerston North, and Mr. Dalglcish, Auckland, 1; Miss Masters, Stratford, and Mr. Purcell, Otorohanga, 2. South Seas ball— Best native costumes: Mrs. Clapcott, Misses Arthur, Conway, Douglas (Auckland), Mr. Cumming (Sydney), Mr. Brinsley, jun. (Dunedin). Film star quest ball—"Dionne quintuplets and nurse": Misses Goodwin, Bishop, Maxwell, Shirriff, Kellaway, A. Goodwin (Auckland!. "Our Gang": Miss House (Hamilton), Miss Boucher, Miss Callngan (Auckland). "Mickey and Minnie": Miss Basliam and Miss Anscombe (Wellington). "Pop Eye": Mr. Ambler (Auckland). "Charlie Chaplin": Mr. Mockett (Christchurch). Honourable mention: "Shirley Temple," Mr. H. Brusey (Wellington): "Charlie Chan," Mr. T. Bcvan (Wellington): "Eddie Cantor," Mr. Seotchmer (Wellineton).
