COLOMBO AND CALCUTTA
At the usual weekly sale of Ceylon tea, held at Colombo on the 2'2nd hist., 2,375,000 pounds weight was placed under offer. Quality of the various grades occasionally showed a slight improvement. The result of the sale showed that all markets were easier. Actual price alterations showed a reduction of Vn\ per lb on commons and Price broken Orange Pekoes, %d per lb on medium 8.0.P.'5, %d per lb on first classic broken Pekoes and fine broken Orange Pekoes. Exchange remained unchanged. Next week's sale is expected to total 1,850,000 pounds weight. A report on the sale of Indian tea. held at Calcutta on the 20th inst., showed that the quantity offered amounted to 1,500,000 pounds weight. Quality, was unchanged, and the result of the sale showed that the market was fully firm to dearer. Quotations remained unchanged.
