SLY GROG SELLING.
FOUND GUILTY AT RETRIAL
POINT FOE APPEAL COURT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, Wednesday. At the retrial to-day of Bernard Lewis Blackwell on charges of sly grog selling at Ashburton, the jury returned a verdict of guilty after a retirement of eight minutes. Counsel for accused stated that there was an important matter connected with the evidence submitted to the jury which he desired should be reserved for the Court of Appeal, and asked that sentence should be postponed pending the decision. Mr. Justice Nortlicroft agreed that it was a proper case for the question involved to be reserved for the Court of Appeal, and postponed sentence. Accused was granted bail.
