TIMBER LANDS.
TRANSFER OF FUNDS.
WORKING RAILWAYS ACCOUNT AUCKLAND AREAS CONCERNED (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Beporter.) WELLING TON, Wednesday. In tlie public revenues section of the Finance Bill introduced' into the House of Representatives to-day a clause authorises the transfer of moneys from the State Forests Account to the Working Railways Account. This has to do with milling timber on certain lands in the North Auckland and Auckland Land Districts, which are set apart as permanent State forests. The timber was withheld from sale in order that it might bo used when required for railway purposes.
It is set out that moneys amounting ill tlie aggregate to .£13,957 have been expended out of the Working Railways Aeeoiint in the administration of the lands and in the protection of the timber thereon. As the timber has not been used for railway purposes and is 110 longer required for such purposes, it is considered desirable that the moneys so expended should be refunded to the Working Railways Account from the proceeds of the sale of the timber. It is therefore provided under the bill that there shall Without further appropriation than this section be transferred from the State Forests Account to the Working Railways Account such sums not exceeding the £13,957 as tlie Commissioner of State Forests may from time to time direct. The areas in the North Auckland Land District are the Puketi State Forest of 15,395.aeres in the Kaeo Survey District and several blocks in the Oninperc Survey District; also that area in the Auckland -Land District known as tlie Oruamii State Forest, containing 1342 acres in tlie Tuhingamata East Survey Distrkri.
