WILL THEY GO?

THE AUSTRALIAN TOUR,

L All WOOD'S AND VOCE'S CHANCES. (Special.—By Air Mall.) LONDON, June 27. Soon we shall be in the centre of an electric disturbance—the selection of the England Test team for Australia. Here is what one of the leading cricket writers said this week:—"Why not Larwood and Voce for Australia? You hear this question asked and debated in pavilions and cricket grounds everywhere. In September an England team is going to Australia to try to win back the Ashes, and 110 one can name any bowlers to go with it. There is a very strong opinion in responsible cricket circles that Harold Larwood is the bowler to give England a chance of success in the tour. Larwood has entirely given up 'leg theory' bowling. He has cut down his run, moderated his pace and now bowls to an offside field. And he lias become the best medium-pace bowler we have. He is bowling beautifully— 110 crowd could take any possible objection to his bowling — and he is getting wickets. Yesterday in the Notts v. Kent match at Tonbridge ho took six wickets, including Frank Woolley's, for .'54 runs. And he bowled for ail hour and three-quarters without a rest. "It is contended that if Larwood went back to Australia the Australians would 'let bygones bo bygones' and that, quite likely, he might be very popular. I asked him if he would go to Australia again, if asked. He told me that liis injured left foot sometimes hurts him, but—very wisely—he begged to be excused discussing going to Australia. But he did not say that he would not go if he were chosen for the England team. Voce is—also very wisely — reticient in the matter, but I believe I can say this, 011 the authority 6f some one in a position to know —Voce would go!"
