SLIP BLOCKS HIGHWAY.
TE WHITI-W AIICABEM OAN A. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. A large slip which came down near Te Whaiti on Tuesday morning has blocked the Te Whaiti-Waikaremoaria road. Immediately the slip was reported the Public Works engineer at Rotorua, Mr. F. L. Park, dispatched a gang of 50 men to the scene and the work of clearing the obstruction immediately commenced. However, it was discovered that the fall consisted mainly of solid rock and it is anticipated that some days may elapse before the route will lie entirely clear again. It was hoped, however, to clear a track round the edge of the slip sufficiently wide to enable traffic to proceed.
