HIDES AND SKINS.
SALE AT PARNELL
At the Parncll stoics yesterday there was a good attendance of tanners, fellmongers and shippers when the fortnightly sale of hides, skins and tallow took place. There was a keen demand for hides and ox hides were very firm. Cows and yearlings also improved. Calves were slightly lower. Dry and salted sheepskins advanced and tallow was unchanged. Following are quotations:— Sheepskins.—Dry: Fine and medium crossbred, B%d to 9V4d per lb; coarse crossbred, 7%d to 8',4(1; half to threequarter wool, 8d to 9d; quarter to half wool, 6%d to 7%d; lambs, 7%d to 9%d; pelts, 4%d to Od. Salted: Best, 5/0 to 0/4 each; good, 0/ to 5/4; medium, 4/0 to 4/11; lambs, 3/ to 4/4. Hides (abattoirs).—Extra heavy ox. to 7Ud per lb; heavy, to 7d; ■medium, o%d to 6%<1; light, s%'d to 6d; extra heavy cows, to 5%d; heavy, to medium, to 5%d; light, to 5%d; kips, to 7d; yearlhigs, to 9%d; best calf, to 13% d; good, to 12d. Country butchers: Extra heavy ox, to o%d; heavy, to 6%d; medium, 5%d to 6%d; light, to 5%d; extra heavy eon*, to od; heavy, to 5%d; medium, to 5%d; light, to 5V&d; kips, to OVid; yearlings, to 7'|d; best calf, to 1294 d; good, to 12d; inferior and damaged calves, 4%d to JOVid • inferior and damaged hides, 2%d to 3%d.' Tallow:—Best mixed, 19/ per cwt" medium, 17/; poor, 14/0.
