CHICAGO, July 20.

Fortunes are being quickly made in the grain pits c\wing to the drought A total of 1,500,000,000 dollars of trading in wheat and maize futures is reported since June 1. Many traders have made 10,000 to 50,000 dollars profit.

The Government states that onlv half the so-called "dust bowl" in Texas* Kansas, Colorado and Oklahoma is seriously eroded. 111-advised farming practices are largely responsible and the Government recommends conservation measures involving precautionary crop planting and contour tillage. Showers fell at t.ie week-ond from Missouri to the Great Lakes.
