GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

PLENTY OF POLLARD. BRAN" ALSO AVAILABLE. CHEAPER POTATOES. "Wo have plenty of pollard and plenty of bran," declared the local manager of the Government wheat and flour committee to-day in referring to the question of supplies. This will be welcome news tn j local feeders, whose efforts to secure i supplies from local mills in recent months have been met by a severe rationing of orders for pollard. In consequence oi this improvement in the stock position the price of local pollard has been reduced 10/ per ton. Australian supplies, too, are coining forward more freely than in recent months, and for these merchants are quoting a further reduction of 5/ per tort. Bran is in steady demand at late rates. There is no change in the position of horse feed. B Garton oats are selling at 4/3 per bushel, and chaff at £8 7/6 per ton. The market for wheat, maize and barley is very steady, with no alterations from last weeks quotations. Only small lots of j locally-grown maize are available. The potato market is weaker. This week's cargo is not a large one, but stocks in the city are fairly heavy, and the price Is 5/ lower than it was a week ago. Dakotas still enjoy a premium of 15/ per cwt over -white tables. A small volume of business is being done in seed lines. Onions arc still coming to hand from Pukekohe, but in many cases they need picking over, in which case the price is advanced accordingly. A reduction of 10/ a ton in the price of bran and pollard in New Zealand, and uniform sizes of packing with rcduced increments for the smaller sizes, have been announced by the Wheat Committee. The reduced price for bulk lots came into force to-day, and the uniform sizes will be brought into use as soon as present stocks of odd sizes arc exhausted. The standardisation of packings has from time to time been discussed by the Wheat Committee, and the following sizes have been adopted:— Bran: Shipping size, 1801b; locat, 1001b. Pollard: Shipping. 2001b; local, 1501b. The small sizes of bran will be subject to an advance of 7/6 a ton instead of 10/ a ton, and pollard will be subject to an advance of 2/6 a ton instead of 10/. The difference is based on the increased number of sacks necessary for the packing. The local manager of the Wheat Committee stated to-day that he had received notice of the reduction in the price of pollard, but not of bran.
