RISKS COVERED.
INSURANCES ON VESSEL RELIEF MEASURES FOR CREW. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, this day. No attempt will be made to salvage the cargo of the Abel Tasman pending the arrival of the underwriters' representative. The hull is insured in the Batavia Insurance Company and the Royal Exchange Company, the amount being unknown here. The several timber consignments on hoard are insured, but these amounts also are not known locally. Arrangements are being made by the Shipwreck Relief Society to assist and outfit the crew, who leave to-morrow for Wellington and Sydney. No injuries were caused to tiie crew through the wreck, but one seaman, Mr. Wm. Pitt, was admitted to hospital with a poisoned finger. One man who was asleep when the ship left the wharf was awakened by the bump w*ien it hit the rocks. He is still suffering from severe shock. It appears fairly definite that the Abel Tasnian was holed under No. 2 hatch when she struck the submerged stem of the wrecked Kaponga.
