EVEN CHAMPAGNE!
SOVIET WORKERS' DIET,
MOSCOW, July 18,
The Food Commissar, Mikoyan, in a speech to the heads of the food industries, declared that champagne was not too good for the palates of Soviet workers. He urged, a big increase in production of wines and other drinks to enable workers to lead merrier lives.
The champagne industry, he added, must be set a goal of 10,000,000 bottles a year. At present it provided only 100,000. Now that scarcity had passed, a host of new foods should be introduced into everyday diet.
