Toko Richmond, aged l.~>, was killed at Torere while engaged' in carting firewood, and his eousm, Dan Richmond, aged 17, was seriously injnrorl. The latter was removed to the Opotiki Hospital, and is making satisfactory progress. A horse and dray was coming out of the bush with a load of wood. The dray capsized, pinning the unfortunate youths beneath it. Dan Richmond managed to extricate himself. There were 110 witnesses of the accident. A iiiii.ii named Peter Rewi saw the injured youth staggering along a paddock. He found the boy's father, and they went to the scene of the accident, but found the boy dead beneath the dray. The horse had broken a wa v.
